The Gazette exists to:

• Help residents stay in touch with what’s going on locally
• Increase awareness of the wide range of activities and groups operating in the local area
• Celebrate achievements big and small of residents and organisations
• Help make newcomers aware of local clubs and organisations that are available for them and their families in our community

By letting the community know about group activities, plans and successes, contributors not only be do a good public relations job for their club or organisation, they also help support to a general feeling of pride in our community among readers of the publication.

What type of submissions does the GREAT Gisborne Gazette accept?

The paper welcomes articles and notices from not-for-profit clubs and organisations of the South Ward of Macedon Ranges Shire.

At the editor’s discretion, the Gazette may also accept articles and notices from individuals and businesses as well as items related to activities outside the South Ward.

Contributions from not-for-profit clubs and organisations are published free of charge. All submissions are subject to the editing process to ensure quality and consistency throughout the paper.

If you wish to ensure that a notice is laid out in a particular way or is not reduced by being edited, you need to take out an advertisement. To do this, email gisbornegazetteadvertising@gmail.com.

The Gazette does not publish ‘Letters to the Editor’.

Submissions are accepted after the deadline at the discretion of the editor.

Are there any guidelines for submissions to the GREAT Gisborne Gazette?

Contributors are requested to adhere to the following guidelines when submitting items for publication in the Gazette:

• Club reports and general submissions, to a maximum of 250 words
• Column and feature article word counts as agreed with the editor
• Where possible, submissions should be provided as a Word document in Arial font size 10.
• Include any photos on the Word document at the end of the text and provide captions underneath each one. Ensure any photos of children have parental consent to be included in the Gazette
• If there are people in a photo, please include their full name where possible and list names from left to right under the photo on the Word document. For children, first names only are fine if you prefer
• In addition to including any photos in the Word document, attach them to your email as separate JPG files (minimum 300kb and preferably larger)

If you do not have access to email, you can enclose your notices, reports, articles (preferably typed) and photos in an envelope and hand it in at the GREAT Centre at 4/23 Hamilton Street by the deadline.

The Gazette recieves a heavy volume of articles and notices each month. The paper is produced by a team of volunteers who do their best to include as many submissions as possible.

Submissions that meet the above-mentioned guidelines and include the following are prioritised in the editing and production process:

• Content directly related to the local area
• Recency or imminence of events mentioned in the content
• Content has not appeared in the Gazette before
